Hotels under the Relais & Chateaux name can be hit or miss, but the company did a fantastic job renovating Faustino Gran's palaces. Raw, authentic details from the island and the buildings' history blend perfectly with the amenities you might expect at a luxury property. The outdoor garden is a dream, with olive trees, an old piano, preserved stone columns, and woven lamps paired with champagne flutes, fine dining, and cushy seating. 

Authenticity

Faustino Gran was the first luxury hotel to open on the island of Menorca. It sits in three separate buildings—Can Faustino, Cal Bisbe, and Can Llorenç—comprising two 16th-century palaces and an inner courtyard. You'll find unique relics on the property, including heraldic shields carved into the sand and numerous preserved details, like the main entrance and arched ceilings.

Location

The hotel's location is ideal for exploring Ciutadella de Menorca, as you'll be around the corner from the city's main viewpoint and the stairs leading to the Port. The impressive cathedral is just two minutes by foot, and other sites like the City Hall and quaint streets of the Old Town are also within walking distance. Sa Farola Beach is a 20-minute walk, and you'll follow part of the Camí de Cavalls, the beautiful path that twists around the entire island. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

Choose from nine room types, including a two-bedroom suite, a rooftop terrace suite with a hot tub and cathedral views, and a private villa with multiple bedrooms and its own pool, kitchen, and terrace. Though a luxury property, the hotel doesn't feel too posh and does a good job of keeping the rooms authentic to Menorca. Enjoy details like tile flooring, wall cutouts, beamed ceilings, rustic wooden furniture, and woven decor, such as rugs and hanging lamps. Upgraded units add perks like private terraces, patios, in-room soaking tubs, and seating areas. Just note that the rooms don't resemble a typical luxury property.

Enjoy a unique spa experience at the hotel's wellness center, built into the vault of an ancient cave. Every room includes spa access, so you can soak under an exposed rock, relax in the sauna, and book treatments like massages and facials. The garden area with an outdoor pool is a highlight where you can enjoy breakfast or lunch.
