Pros

• This hotel has an ideal location if you want to be in the city center but on a quieter street—and you can walk to nearly all the sites in 10 minutes or less. 
• The rooms are simple but use natural colors that mimic Menorca's environment, creating a relaxing space. 
• Superior rooms add a few nice perks, like terraces or sofa beds. 
• You can eat at the restaurant, which serves breakfast and dinner starting at 6:00 pm, which is pretty early for Spain.

Cons

• Other than the on-site eatery, there aren't any other amenities to enjoy at the hotel. 
• Though it's a family-friendly property and strives to host those traveling with kids, the accommodation doesn't go beyond the room (no pool or fun spaces for children). 

Authenticity

San Miguel Hotel has evolved with Menorca, from historical to bohemian to sustainable. The building started as a historic manor house, transitioning to a laid-back backpackers hostel, and endured a total renovation in 2022 to adhere to the island's sustainability measures. The new owners focus on "smart hosting," meaning they work to make a space accommodating for any traveler, whether on a solo adventure or visiting with the entire family. 

Location

Enjoy a quiet location in Mahón's Old Town, close to the main sites yet away from the noise. The city's main square, cathedral, and markets are all just a five-minute walk from the hotel, and getting to the lively Port only takes 10 minutes. You'll be on a corner with the back of the hotel facing a charming and curved stone street. Exploring the area requires a rental car or private transfer, but both the airport and a beautiful swimming spot (Cala Binidalí) are just 15 minutes away. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

All rooms are fairly simple and have minifridges, air conditioning, desks, and towels specifically for the beach. You'll find a color palette channeling the island's environment with neutral tones, earthy hues, and a few blues and greens for the sea. Superior rooms feature whirlpool bathtubs, and suites add a private terrace with sun loungers or a living room with a sofabed—good for families or groups. Bathrooms are modern and blend rustic features with trendy decor. 

Other Highlights

The on-site restaurant offers several different dining options, as you can enjoy your breakfast or dinner on the outdoor terrace with rooftop views, in the indoor lounge, or on the covered patio. During the day, guests can also enjoy these spaces to relax. Or, if you're around in the early evening, you can snack on tapas and sip smoothie cocktails starting at 6:00 pm. 

Sustainability

To complement Menorca's Biosphere Preserve status, San Miguel Hotel completely renovated its building for sustainability purposes. The rooms have zero disposable, single-use objects, and toiletries are free from paraben, mineral oils, silicone, and animal fat. Other products in the hotel are tested as biodegradable and approved by international guidelines.
