SODIUM Boutique Hotel, Menorca

Pros

• The hotel's location is just across the main street from a lively square with cafés and restaurants, with its roads leading to major sites like the cathedral and City Hall. 
• All the rooms have a contemporary look and provide a private outdoor space,  including a rooftop terrace for one of the units. 
• Enjoy a simple breakfast featuring ingredients from the city's local markets, plus an assortment of daily newspapers. 
• The building was originally a manor house, built in the 19th century, so there are several historical charms to enjoy, like mosaic floors in some rooms.

Cons

• This is a fairly simple hotel, so there are no amenities beyond breakfast service, which is tasty but relatively basic. 
• There aren't any common spaces like lounges, so your room is the only place to hang out. 

Additional Notes From Ash 

This hotel wasn't on my initial list of properties to visit, but I saw it across the street while grabbing a coffee in Plaça d'Artrutx. I'm so glad I noticed it because it was one of my favorite boutique hotels in Ciutadella! I appreciated its style, unique decor, and affordability, plus it's a great perk to have an outdoor space for each room. 

Authenticity

Set in a 19th-century manor house, SODIUM has a chemistry theme, naming its six rooms after elements. The aim is to preserve some of the building's historical details, like its beamed ceilings and mosaic floors, and create a relaxing space that honors Menorca's tranquil, natural atmosphere.

Location

Nestled in a quiet corner of historic Ciutadella de Menorca, the hotel is on a charming brick-lined street and just steps away from many sites. The city's impressive cathedral is just one minute away, and the Port and City Hall are only three minutes away. You'll also have quick access to nature, as you can start the Camí de Cavalls (the path that loops around Menorca) right from the city center, and the swimming cove at Sa Farola Beach is a scenic 20-minute walk. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

Each room has a private outdoor space and an element as a name, so you can stay in the Sodium room and enjoy its simple, relaxed vibe and furnished terrace. Or, opt for the Caesium room with its open floor plan, large glass sliding door, and private patio. And the Rubidium room has its own rooftop terrace, so you can enjoy the bright reds of Ciutadella's rooftops. Overall, the units are simple but a step up from the hotel's sister property Cheap & Chic.
