Overview
Opening its doors in 1993, Hotel Klaustur stands tall in the Southeastern part of Iceland, a region renowned for its views of Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull. The hotel is positioned directly opposite the striking Eldhraun lava fields and is located in Kirkjubæjarklaustur, fondly referred to as "Klaustur" by locals. You'll also be right on the famous Ring Road, nestled between the iconic glaciers, Vatnajökull and Mýrdalsjökull.
Hotel Klaustur's guest rooms, renovated in 2018, are bright and comfortable, decorated in vibrant green or bold blue hues. Each room is equipped with modern amenities such as a Smart TV and WiFi. Choose from standard guest rooms to a spacious suite featuring a cozy lounge area and king-size bed. For an added touch of luxury, the hotel also offers Deluxe rooms, complete with espresso makers and complimentary vouchers to a nearby public pool and gym.
The Klaustur Restaurant, managed by the talented Chef Einar B. Halldórsson, is a highlight of the hotel. Here, you can enjoy a taste of contemporary Icelandic cuisine made with 80% locally sourced ingredients. The hotel's bar is also a great place to unwind with a cocktail after a day of exploring. The hotel is proud of its eco-friendly initiatives, using only hydroelectric power.
