Argentina is a great place to visit. Under Milei, it is on its way to again being rich and a world leader. Buenos Aires has a really cool combination of post-socialist grunge (graffiti, old buildings) and brand new cafes and restaurants. In general, all of our connections were on-time. We generally avoided large buses and groups, which we preferred for our family group of four. Each of our destinations (El Calafate, Bariloche, Iguazu, BA) were world class. We were happy with the Boutique hotels chosen in terms of location and facilities and breakfast.

We had an amazing time in Argentina with the itinerary Juan and the team at KimKim planned! This was our first visit to Argentina so it was great to have a local customize our trip. We started in Buenos Aires and was welcomed by our wonderful driver Alberto. Alberto ended up doing all of our airport pick up and drop offs from Buenos Aires which was awesome because he’s great and it was good to have a familiar face with us each time. He also gave us some suggestions on neighborhoods and sights to visit during our drive.

Jessica was our first BA local guide and she was wonderful! We went around to different parts of the city and learned a lot about the culture, history and city life in BA. San Telmo was one of our favorite neighborhoods with the food and craft markets. We also saw a Tango show at El Querandi which was intriguing and educational.

Our next stop was Puerto Iguazu where we went to Iguazu Falls on both the Brazil and Argentina side. Both are amazing in different ways and a must see! Our guide on the Brazil was Manuel and our guide on the Argentina side was Ramon. Both were awesome in making sure we navigated the parks and customs flawlessly. Highly suggest the Gran Aventura boat ride on the Argentina side if you don’t have any health restrictions - we’re very glad we decided to add this excursion. The town of Puerto Iguazu was also very cool to experience. On one hand, there’s a touristy downtown with great bars and restaurants (recommend the Argentine Experience food and wine tasting) and on the other, you have Guarani villages that you can visit (highly recommend horseback riding with Beto and Alberto at Cabalgata ecológica del indio solitario).

We also visited Salta and Purmamarca. Salta was a bigger city with bars, restaurants and shops. One day here was enough to walk around, go on the cable car to Cerro de San Bernardo and see the sites. The next day, we were picked up by our guide Federico who was super fun and knowledgeable. He took us to San Antonio de Los Cobres (small mining town) and Salinas Grandes (salt flats). We drove along the scenic route 40 and saw a lot of locals from the mountains and farms. We saw all the Llamas, Vicuñas and Donkeys :)

To our pleasant surprise, Federico was back the next day as our guide! We saw the 7 color mountains and 14 color mountains. Federico shared a lot about the people and culture from the area and it was such a great experience to learn from him.

Our last day back at Buenos Aires was perhaps one of the best. We visited the Boedo neighborhood with Graciela and Pierre, our local guide/dinner host. It was so rewarding to meet them, their sons and their pets! They showed us how to make empanadas and we had a wonderful home cooked meal with them.

As for hotels, most were good. Our favorite hotel was Mine Boutique Hotel in Buenos Aires. This was closest to what we would expect of a 4 star boutique hotel. Awwa in BA was spacious but didn’t have much ambiance. La Reserva in Puerto Iguazu was a nice resort with a nice room and was literally in the jungle. My only reservation here is that the bathroom was not too new - it didn’t match the rest of the resort. Villa Vicuña in Salta had a very nice bathroom with an older colonial boutique room. Purmamarca had amazing views from the hotel room and a wonderful balcony. The bathroom again was not as good and there was no A/C if that’s a concern. Overall, we selected boutique hotels as our lodging option and believe that that’s what was arranged for us.

One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to get to know locals and see the culture from as much of a non tourist perspective as possible. KimKim did a wonderful job with this - especially with the Graciela and Pierre.

I would definitely recommend KimKim if it is your first time to a city or country. They gave great suggestions and the logistics were seamless. Drivers were always on time, excursions were confirmed and local flights were at times that helped maximize our day. Thank you Juan and Joaquin!

Really enjoyed our tour with Pablo our guide. We were the only two we had plenty of time with him. We learned a significant amount of the history of the city and of course the river, the peoples that settled there. I always appreciate getting that kind of information it gives you a feeling for what the city was and has become. Lot of architecture and of course tours of the parks which are really overwhelmingly frequent in Buenos Aires

The Full-Day Trek to the Base of Torres del Paine was quite interesting. We ended up walking the trail on our own as the guide allowed us to break off due to our quicker pace and the large number of hikers. The guide wasn't necessary since the hike was straightforward, and we felt that only transportation was needed, as the guided aspect was minimal and mostly in Spanish.

And they failed to tell us that the tour the second day was at night (even though the schedule implied it would be during the day) until the day before when it was too late to make any other plans, and since it was Christmas Day there was literally nothing to do in town. This was disappointing because we asked if there were any issues with our tour being on Christmas and they said none at all.

Also the travel company failed to tell us to bring $100 bills so we could exchange money and that it was very difficult to get pesos without a $100 bill.

Overall we liked most of the activities but there could have been much better planning and communication and information sharing.

Hi Vivian,
I hope you have had a great start of the year!

Thanks for taking the time for this feedback. Our main goal is to provide you with a great experience and every effort is made from our side to fulfill your needs and adjust your itinerary to your preferences when possible.

We are very glad that you had a great time in Bariloche with our local supplier, I will send your comments :)

Regarding El Calafate, Mayo Spirit Trek takes you by sailing to one of the most beautiful places in Los Glaciares National Park, which only a few people have the privilege of accessing: the Mayo Sound of Lake Argentino, and combines with walkways to complete the experience. The regular excursions only take you to the walkways.

About Nativo Experience, it is great that you had a nice dinner in the caves, but I am very sorry that you didn´t know the time with enough time to schedule another activity on Christmas on your own.  I hope that didn´t overshadow your trip.

Once you finish the trip to Iguazu with us, let us know your comments too! This helps us a lot to improve our experiences :)
Hope to see you in SouthAmerica again soon!

We had the most incredible time in Argentina! We’re a group of three girls who wanted to explore all the must-see places of Argentina, from the vibrant Buenos Aires to the mountains in Patagonia.
Kimkim planned for us an amazing itinerary meeting all our requests, suggesting a lot of fun activities (including a nice shower in the Iguazu waterfalls) and relieving us of the stress of planning a complex trip throughout such a big country like Argentina.
We had a stay of about 16 days during which we visited Buenos Aires, Iguazu, El Chalten, El Calafate and Ushuaia. All places amazed us with their peculiarities, with the most unforgettable experience being the excursion at the Perito Moreno glacier. Be sure not to miss this when planning to travel Argentina! If you enjoy hiking, plan to spend a few nights in El Chalten. You can climb the mountains and enjoy the incredible view of Fitz Roy!
Ana and Anahí from Kimkim were very helpful during the planning process. They made sure we had all the info we needed and the team also answered our questions during the trip.
All in all: it was a looooovely experience, with a great and flexible service. Would 100% do this again

The front desk said the noise would stop at 10:30 pm, but it did not. We messaged KimKim and Camila was polite but not helpful. We asked for a refund (this was not offered) and she said we would get one, but then offered an upgrade, which we took. We did not care for the location of the upgrade. We stayed for three nights in Iguazu, but felt two would have been better. There was also unclear communication about one of our internal flights, for which we were told there would be a two hour layover, which was in fact over four hours. Flights are what they are, but we would have preferred to have accurate information. This flight was nonstop but we were told there would be a stop, however I believe this information was in reference to a flight that we had ended up changing. The End of the World train ride in Ushuaia was not at all worthwhile and on one of our guided trips (through Canal Tours in Ushuaia) we waited around for hours due to poor communication about activity levels (we were very specific about limitations due to a back injury) and a lack of available options. On the positive side, Sonia, our guide in Buenos Aires, was wonderful and we really enjoyed the food tour. Pilar, our guide in Iguazu, was fantastic, the hotel was great, and we recommend seeing both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides of the falls. We liked our hotel in Ushuaia, which had a wonderful view and helpful staff. We had used KimKim for a trip to Thailand that was fantastic and we felt there was a lot of added value with that trip, but that was not the case for Argentina. I could have easily planned this trip myself, it may have cost less (although hard to tell since Kim Kim does not provide a breakdown), and I think we would have enjoyed it more. On the whole, the KimKim experience depends on the travel agent you work with. In this case, we felt our travel agent lacked experience and our trip could have been planned better.

O2 Hotel Buenos Aires

Basic hotel. Good location. The reason I gave 2 stars is the size of their beds. They are tiny! If the two single beds are together it’s an American queen size bed, not king. And if they are separate they are much more narrower than a regular single bed. On top of that, the pillows are very hard and puffy. And the fitted sheet for a single bed is larger than a bed. So basically you sleep very uncomfortable on the bare mattress all night (because the sheet will roll) and be tired with a neck pain in the morning. Unless you are small person and the queen size bed is ok for two people.

We had a quick group tango lesson (by the same guy and a girl who danced in the show later), dinner, and a show. Everything was great! The lesson was fun. Food and wine were excellent. And the show was fantastic! The level of professionalism is top notch (very different from the dancers you see in La Boca restaurants or dancing on the streets). We really loved this night!

Perito Moreno and Esmeralda Lagoon are magic places, and each time we had all the free time we needed to enjoy the spectacular nature.

We come back from Argentina in loved with the country and its kindness.

Special thanks to Virginia and then Emilce who accompanied us on building the program and making it happening. The trip was originally planned in 2020 and postponed because Covid19. The day trips in Salta were too long - they were about 10-12 hours which is too long to be sitting in a bus which is why we canceled our third bus trip.
The hotel in Salta does not have an elevator and there was no hot water in our room on the last night and morning. We didn’t talk to reception about it due to language problems.
The tour Gabriel for the walking tour of Salta was not that great, plus it was supposed to be 3 1/2 hours but it was only for one hour (which did work out better as we had been walking around Salta for most of the day).
All of the wineries that you booked for us were really great, we had some great wine and great food.
It was great being meet at the airport with a driver, that made everything so much simpler/nicer.
We will definitely use your company again and recommended you to lots of people that we met during the trip.
For the Iguazú falls - the boat ride that you booked for use was canceled so we ended up taking a jet ski boat ride, we highly recommend this ride as it is amazing - they take you under the water falls (they provide dry bags for all personal items).

Savoy Hotel
Buenos Aires

The Savoy Hotel in Buenos Aires was really nice, with extra space beyond just the bedroom. It was conveniently located within walking distance to all the attractions in town, and the breakfast they served was great. We loved the central location, making it easy to explore Buenos Aires.

Inkai Salta
Salta

Inkai Salta was a decent hotel, but it didn't have an elevator, which was a bit inconvenient. Luckily, the staff helped with our luggage, and my husband managed the rest. Otherwise, it had a good location, so getting around wasn’t difficult. Overall, it was okay but could use an elevator for convenience.

Hotel Fundador
Santiago, Región Metropolitana

The Hotel Fundador in Santiago was great! It had a separate sitting area with chairs, making it comfortable to relax with a bottle of wine after a day out. It was a nice touch not to be confined to a bedroom space only. Definitely one of the hotels we enjoyed staying at.

Travel Review: A Magical Journey Through Argentina

This long overdue heartfelt review is long overdue, as we want to extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible hosts. From start to finish, the customer service, scheduling, and meticulous attention to detail provided by our travel coordinator (Ana), guide (Flor), and driver (Mhervin) were nothing short of outstanding.

Upon our arrival in Buenos Aires, we were warmly welcomed by our guide, Flo, and Mhervin, who would look after us throughout our entire adventure. Their expertise and friendliness instantly made us feel at home in this vibrant city.

One of the highlights of our trip was the Tango lessons and dinner show. The experience was simply fabulous! We were immersed in the passion and artistry of Tango, enjoying every moment of its rich pageantry. It was a true celebration of Argentine culture that we’ll cherish forever.

Another unforgettable experience was our personal cooking class with Chef Paula at El Federal. What a delight it was to journey through the four regions of Argentina via its culinary offerings! Chef Paula was an exceptional instructor, guiding us through the preparation of traditional dishes. The joy of savoring our own creations was the cherry on top of a wonderful evening enjoying the food and our wonderful host.

A special thank you to Ana, our fantastic tour coordinator, for suggesting and scheduling these incredible experiences. She truly knows how to curate the perfect itinerary!

Flo, our guide, further enriched our trip with insightful walks and recommendations for dining at some of the best local spots. Our visit to La Bamba de Areco was particularly enchanting, with its tranquil ranch setting, stunning landscapes, and the opportunity to connect with horses and locals and horse whisperer.

Ana also arranged a magnificent excursion to El Calafate, where we marveled at the breathtaking Perito Moreno Glacier on the Blue Safari. The overnight stay at Los Ponchos Hotel Boutique was fabulous, with comfortable accommodations and delicious food that made our stay even more special.

We cannot thank Ana enough for the flawless air and ground connections she arranged for us, ensuring a seamless journey from Buenos Aires to El Calafate and back.

For anyone considering a fantastic holiday in Argentina, we wholeheartedly recommend utilizing KimKim and asking for Ana, Flo, and Mhervin. They are a dream team, and we can’t wait to return and experience more of Argentina— with our wonderful guides by our side!

The guidance provided by Nacho on how to navigate the Iguazu National park was spot on.
The boat/ship tour in El Calafate took us so close to the glacier and kept us there for sufficient duration for everyone to take some amazing pictures from every direction.
Andres, the cheerful tour guide in Usuaia, pampered us with chocolates. Something I was not expecting at all, and it showed how much they cared about the tourists.

Hugh also came to meet us on the last day, a very kind gesture, and guided us more on exploring Buenos Aires shopping areas and I finally got the one souvenir at the right price that I had been looking for, one fifth the price of what I was getting in some other shops.
