Proposed Kimkim review Big thanks to Ana from Shanti Travel for an excellent itinerary, which perfectly captured our request to focus on beaches and nature of Bali & Sumba. The selected accommodation were also great choices aligned with those themes. Really took the hassle out of planning a holiday. Ana & Theresa were also available for support during the trip. Thank you to Putra for providing comfortable & reliable transportation in Bali. And we were very lucky to have Jhon as our very experienced & knowledgeable guide in Sumba, who helped us to appreciate the island’s beautiful scenery & interesting culture & history.

Our trip to Cape Town and the Kruger National Park area was amazing!!! We first started in Cape Town and our transport driver, Leon Witz, was so cool. He took us wine tasting, to the Cape of Good Hope, to see the penguins, and lastly to go whale watching. Leon is super knowledgeable about the area, and since this was our first time in Cape Town, it was amazing to have a guide that knew so much about the local area. This was also my (now) fiancée’s and I engagement trip, and it was really fun to celebrate with Leon afterwards! He got us a bottle of champagne to celebrate! 🍾 🥂🎉

After Cape Town, we flew up to the Kruger National Park area to stay at Tangala Camp. The employees and managers at Tangala, particularly, Reason and Louis, were awesome! The managers, Johan and Madeleine, were also super nice and very accommodating. We saw a bunch of wild animals (painted wolves, hyena, leopard, lions, etc), and the driver/spotters knew everything about the animals and answered everyone’s questions. The camp is small with <20 people staying there, so we made friends with the other visitors in our car. The houses are really neat; they’re thatch roof style cabins that were fun to stay in. There are also various antelope that wander through the camp, which was fun to see.

Overall, we had an amazing experience with KimKim, and will definitely be booking again with them in the future. For other trips, we have generally always booked everything ourselves, but KimKim trips are a great combo of independent travel that is still flexible while also helping with the booking and coordinating logistics. Finally, we also had a very positive experience with the local agent, Steph, who did a great job planning everything and picking out activities for us. I appreciated her attention to details and organization of the trip. Thanks all again!

After Cape Town, we flew up to the Kruger National Park area to stay at Tangala Camp. The employees and managers at Tangala, particularly, Reason and Louis, were awesome! The managers, Johan and Madeleine, were also super nice and very accommodating. We saw a bunch of wild animals (painted wolves, hyena, leopard, lions, etc), and the driver/spotters knew everything about the animals and answered everyone’s questions. The camp is small with <20 people staying there, so we made friends with the other visitors in our car. The houses are really neat; they’re thatch roof style cabins that were fun to stay in. There are also various antelope that wander through the camp, which was fun to see. This was my (now) fiancé’s and I’s engagement trip and also our first big trip that either of us have taken out of the U.S., and it was perfect!

We had heard great things about Sri Lanka from friends, but our trip was still full of surprises! The planning was smooth, with Rikaz helping us make changes when we realized we had a bit more time. When we were actually on the ground, Dan helped with everything, and the whole trip went off without a hitch. The whole family enjoyed the mix of adventure and relaxation, from hiking up the fortress of Sigiriya to walking the southern beaches... to having to maneuver the van when a wild elephant decided to cross the road. It's a must-do!

We did a 12 day/11-night self-drive trip around Iceland. Overall, it was an amazing experience in a country where the scenery is so truly spectacular - just when you think you've seen the most magnificent vista, you turn the corner and the next is even better! Over 10,000 waterfalls, 130 volcanoes, vivid blue glaciers, black beaches littered with sparkling icebergs, rugged lava fields, spouting geysers, steaming geothermal pools, whales, puffins, artic horses ... the visual variety was astounding! Each place of special interest was usually well signposted, and we did many beautiful self-guided hikes. (Beware that most tourist spot carparks require payment)
Our particular highlights were a Glacier hike, Fjallsárlón Glacier overnight adventure and zodiac tour, Puffin watching on the East Coast and Sky Lagoon thermal baths.
We hired a Kia hybrid Sportwagon which was comfy, roomy and economical but there were a few roads we couldn't explore because we did not have a FWD.
We also paid for the "medium band" priced accommodation level and 3 of our 8 guesthouse/hotels were a bit disappointing in terms of standard (only 2 star and clean but very basic). Food and wine in Iceland is very expensive but having said that our final "splurge dinner" in a Michelin star restaurant in Reykjavik was relatively great value!

Reykjadalur Valley is a lovely walk not far from The Greenhouse hotel where we stayed, but it is a 7km hike for the carpark and quite steep. Don't bother visiting gyesir/geothermal park in Hveragerdi. Not worth it. But their bread is worth trying!

Amandine and her colleagues were fantastic. She helped us plan the type of trip we didn’t even know we wanted until she gave us the ideas. Then, when a bag of ours was unfortunately stolen, and we had to cancel and rebook a couple events and hotels, Amandine did it all for us. This made the trip smooth, despite the hiccup. This is the third time we worked with Mathias, and it was as always, a great trip. Mathias worked with us to personalize our 2-week trip to Peru with 4 day/3 night Inca trail hiking. With several modifications, we finalized our trip to include visits to Lima, Arequipa, Cusco, and hiking the Inca trail. The entire trip was very well organized with every step taken care of: pick up, drop off, day to day itinerary and local contact person. We didn’t have to worry about anything, just showed up with at the airport. It’s super easy and we feel well taken care of.

Our local contact guide in Peru was Renato Diaz from AllPeru. He is super friendly and responsive to all our questions during the trip. It was most helpful that Renato sent us the boarding passes when we flew between cities. During the trip, there was a misunderstanding of the drop off in Cusco city, Renato arranged a complimentary dinner and show for us as an apology, which was very professional.

Overall, we are very happy with Mathias, Renato, and Kimkim for planning yet another amazing trip for us.

The golden circle was wonderful. Loved the stops & our guide, Sara, was sweet and knowledgeable. Food tour was super cool introduction to city. The south coast tour was incredible, the glacier hike was the coolest thing we've ever done 10/10. Driver, Stefan, was funny & authentic Icelander. We did so much in the short amount of time we were there & it was great that everything was set up for us. The Turkey honeymoon we planned through Kimkim was exceptional!

Berat was a wonderful coordinator who met all of our needs, adjusting the schedule to fit our preferences. All the while, Berat was prompt in responding, pleasant to speak to, and professional.

We'd also like to give a special shout out to our guide Ozz. Ozz is an exceptionally knowledgeable tour guide, and truly passionate about ancient history. He showed us many amazing sites with great enthusiasm and his unique personal charm!

Was fantastic experience and loved every part of this trip to the Amazon forests. Right from landing in Puerto Maldonado to reaching the lodge through the river, Rainforest expeditions were excellent in organising every aspect of the trip and making it memorable! We had a wonderful time. The highlights for me were the Food tasting tour in Athens, watching the sunrise over the Acropolis, hiring a boat & captain to visit the secluded beaches of Ios (my favorite activity & favorite location by far the whole trip). We would return to Ios in a heartbeat! Next time we’d skip Santorini & stay on the smaller islands but I’m grateful to have seen it. Our agent was available and ready to help throughout the whole trip and having her took the stress out of planning & organizing.

Staff were rude. So many rules and restrictions. Don’t go here, don’t sit there, don’t get the boat wet (?), seriously? It’s a boat!!! One staff said go ahead & jump on water, next staff said absolutely no jumping in, use the one ladder for all the ppl. Very short time spent at swimming places. Hot springs (?) were just rocks in the ocean. Not warm at all, just regular ocean. Meant to be a small group of 20 ppl max but there were 28 ppl. Shortage of towels & snorkeling gear. Lunch was dry & overcooked. I would suggest chartering private instead of joining a group.

The Polcoyo doesn’t have the same colours and wow factor has the other mountain. Also the guide didn’t prepare us for the altitude and I was really ill when I got to the mountain

Absolutely had the best time in the forest , really authentic and the the service was great . It took us a night to get used to the ‘no walls’ . Our guide Victor was amazing and activities are well spread out . Only one feedback is that the first day the food ran out which was not great .

Adam did a great job planning our trip to Iceland, he included lots of options and was very knowledgeable about the country. He was sensitive the dietary needs of our daughter and selected activities that kept our kids (13 and 15) engaged and happy. The excursions kept smiles on our teens faces from the time we landed until we left. The Ice cave tour and hiking were particular favorites for our crew! We would absolutely use Kimkim again!!!

We visited Vietnam and Cambodia. We had such an educational and eye opening experience with appropriate and relevant activities as planned with Hien.

João helped us plan the perfect honeymoon! We had an amazing time exploring the cities of Portugal and relaxing on the coast! Each activity was planned with care and the team even provided little surprises along the way such as a wine and cheese tasting at the end of our walking tour. João and the across Portugal team were always great about checking in on the support chat they set up and quickly responded to any changes or issues along the way. The itinerary he planned was perfect we only wish we could have stayed even longer! We highly recommend João and across Portugal!

From start to finish, our trip to Japan was nothing short of spectacular, thanks in large part to Sandy, our local specialist. Sandy’s expertise and dedication were evident from the very beginning. She skillfully helped us navigate through the planning process, balancing our budget with our dream itinerary. Her knowledge of Japan was impressive, and her patience and understanding made the planning phase smooth and stress-free. Despite the 12-hour time difference, Sandy was always available. During the trip she would check in daily to confirm all logistics and ensure everything was on track. She even threw in a much appreciated upgrade with our last minute experience add-on!
Our 14-day journey took us to Tokyo, Kyoto, Hakone, and Osaka. Each stop was seamlessly organized, thanks to Sandy’s meticulous planning. The friendly and professional drivers and guides at each location were punctual and attentive, enhancing our experience at every turn. Our bullet train tickets to Kyoto from Hakone magically appeared at our hotel at check-in.
A standout moment of our trip was our day trip to Yokohoma with our guide, Alan Tan. Alan went above and beyond by securing reservations at a fantastic restaurant for the best table with panoramic views of Shibuya Crossing. His thoughtful touch included providing us with detailed train maps for days he wasn’t with us, ensuring we could navigate the city with ease. His dedication and personalized assistance were deeply appreciated.
Sandy’s efforts in securing hard-to-get advance tickets (Ramen Museum, CupNoodle Factory, TeamLabPlanets, Ghibli Museum, Osaka Aquarium) were a huge relief and allowed us to focus on enjoying our trip. Each day unfolded without a hitch, and we are incredibly grateful for the seamless experience she provided. The memories we created will be cherished forever, and we owe a great deal of our unforgettable experience to Sandy’s exceptional service.
