Had a wonderful Golden Circle trip with Prokop and an amazing South Coast tour with Toby. Kids loved off roading in the land rover en route to the ice cave. Spent a rainy afternoon at Perlan, which was very interesting. The strike of the restaurant and housekeeping workers was a bit disappointing, but nothing we can do about that!
Overall a great trip and we would return, hopefully in the summer to see puffins and whales.
Thank you very much!

Kimkim delivered spectacularly. Our days were filled with trips to places we were delighted to see --- archaeological sites, churches, plazas neighborhoods, local markets, etc. We were definitely immersed in the local culture and we truly enjoyed it.

We thought we were going to be part of a small tour, but much to our suprise and delight, we were provided with our own special and private guide at every city. We felt like royalty!

Hotel B Urban Xaman
Cuauhtémoc, Centro, Mexico City

We loved spending time in the roofop lounge where we had a panoramic view of the lights of the city. The layout of the hotel was quite impressive and we appreciated the open plan, the use of furnishings that appear to highight the local products. They even had a welcoming seating area in front of each elevator. in our room, we were provided our choice of beverages (tea, coffee) and beautiful teapots, mugs. We were surprised with what appear to be a yoga or prayer mat. How thoughtful! The restaurant had wall to wall windows that allowed natural light. We went for breakfast, and liked the various assortment to choose from --- however, we weren't as excited with the flavors of the foods offered there as we were with the food we tasted at the rooftop lounge. Who knew that bar food would be better than the restaurant's?

Authenticity & Character
Open plan, makes it feel so large and spacious. Love the rooftop lounge with panoramic views. Also liked the way it was furnished --- gave us a sense of the native and culture-inspired furnishings.
Location
Great location --- easy to walk around, was right across a large park, easy access to public transportation.
Staff
They were responsive and attentive enough...but they could use people with more proficiency in English which is an international language spoken by most travelers from different countries.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Exceptiionally clean.
Casona de los Sapos Hotel Boutique

This was absolutely our favorite hotel of all! From the moment we walked in, seeing the multi-story open courtyard, we knew we were in for a treat. So beautiful and almost magical. We just had to take pictures of the atrium. Every level of the hotel was thoughtfully designed --- they retained the original stonework, and carefully augmented what was there. They had sitting areas in every nook, and each one was comfortable and beautiful and provided certain amount of privacy, Every single guest we noticed who just checked in seemed to have the same impression and started taking pictures. Who wouldn't be? It's a stunning boutique hotel.

Authenticity & Character
Loved all the architectural details. They kept the original stonework. Our suite was stunning. Every thing was a beautiful. We were amazed at the quality of the furnishings --- nothing cheap here.
Location
Great location next to a plaza, very walkable to restaurants, shops, etc.
Staff
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We especially loved our server during dinner, Indira. She was delightful to speak with.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Goodness, if only every single hotel was like this! We even observed someone painstakingly cleaning a lamp.

We liked going through this experience with our guide Adrian who turned out to be a well-traveled chef with a lot of experience. We loved that he provided a very detailed commetary on every place we visited, every thing we tasted.

Quality of Experience
We liked the diversity of our experience --- street food, market food, restaurant dining.
Food
It's a matter of personal taste......I'm sure the food is great for some people. I was prepared to like the food, but I wasn't fond of Mexican food before, and can't say I'm fond of it now.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
We didn't drive anywhere this time, but we did walk around a lot. This may be challenging for people with mobility problems. Walking around can be challenging because the pavements are so uneven and there are lots of unexpected things jutting out (my partner fell because of one such thing).

Visit to the National Museum of Anthropology
Mexico City

This was probably our favorite of all the things we did during this tour. We were so amazed at the beauty and quality of the museum. Simply fantastic at how every single artifact was presented. This truly stoked our interest in the history of Mexico and we are so happy to be introduced this way. One day isn't enough, but our guide was smart to point out the things that should matter to people who are interested in the history and culture of this country.

Quality of Experience
We were especially mesmerized by the sectiion that showed the pyramids that were already unearthed. We were glad to have been introduced to this first before actually visiting the pyramids themselves.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Of all our guides, Paola was our favorite. We sensed how much she loved what she does, and how excited she gets pointing out certain things we should know. We delighted in her sense of humor and how dedicated she in in what she does. Her happiness and pride in her country are so obvious, and we were happy to see that
Transport
Paola was also our driver, and she narrated as she drove through the city. That was a plus.

We didn't ride bikes, and I wouldn't recommend that to elderly or physically-challenged guests. So we chose to be transported in the car. We were thrilled to actually visit the pyramids, and even walked up to certain areas although the steps could be challenging. Just knowing the existence of such pyramids was a treat in itself, especially being told that there are more pyramids, but they haven't been excavated yet. Rather bothered that many of the murals are uncovered and not protected from the elements. As such they are deteriorating and may disappear someday.

Quality of Experience
Wish we saw evidence that the murals are being protected for future generations.
Food
We were taken to a restaurant where all tourist vans/buses converged. Although our server was pleasant enough, we were served what everyone else got. I saw food served to other customers that I wish we could have ordered, but it wasn't offered to us.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our guide was knowledgeable and chose the right places to visit, but he lacked a certain spark to his personality, as if he's just going through the motions, and is not that engaged with his audience.
Transport
We like having a private driver, but not so thrilled that his English is so limited. We couldn't converse with him until our guiide joined us.

Walk in a Cactus Forest: Tehuacán-Cuicuitlan Biosphere Reserve

This was a total bust.... Our original driver was in an accident so they sent a substitute driver who barely spoke English. We were driven to where we were supposed to go the Biosphere, but no one spoke Engligh, and no one seemed to know anything about it, or what to do. What was hysterical is that there was a young man who had Receptionist embroidered on his jacket, and who was standing right in front of a huge billboard promoting Biosfera, but he was clueless about it!. There was not a single English-speaking person or guide who can tell us anything!

Quality of Experience
Can't think of anything other than having people who know what and where Biosphhere is, and can speak Engligh.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our poor driver was trying...but we lost internet signal and we couldn't utilize our translator app to communicate, and he had to rely on pure instinct to get around

Between markets and corn in the magical town of Cholula
Between markets and corn in the magical town of Cholula
Mexico

We enjoyed going to the market ---- but we had gone to a market before in Mexico City and didn't really want to go to another market. This activity could have been taken off our itinerary The place where the proprietor showed us various types of corn, how to grind it, and how to make tortilla was an interesting experience. We liked that we were invited to try our hand in this, and then to eat there.

Quality of Experience
We were surprised that our tour ended at 1 pm and we were left to fend for ourselves for the rest of the day. Seems like there is so much more we could have done, or have been shown in this Cholula and Puebla. Rather disappointed there wasn't anything else planned for us. Maybe a short drive around to see the city and point out highlights should have been added to the day.
Food
This is a mixed bag for us. After the corn tour, we would have appreciated being taken to a local restaurant where we could have experienced other types of Mexican foods other than tortillas. So we were happy that our hotel has a fabulous restaurant that offered a tasting 5-course meal with wine pairing. Otherwise, our whole dining experience would have been a total bust.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
We llked Maria, a teacher who excelled at what she taught us during the very short tour. She was the highlight of our day.

We absolutely loved seeing this old and huge tree, and were happy to walk around the plaza. Our highest praise is reserved for the archaeological sites. Our guide Alex was thoroughly knowledgeable and his commentary interspersed historical facts with folklore that made them so much more interesting. We were wowed by our visit to the petrified waterfalls and the pools, and driving up the mountains so that we can appreciare the countryside. Of course, the visit to the mescal distillery was a revelation. We chose to eat while we were doing the mescal tasting where our young guide was such a credible expert that he made the experience so wonderful.

Quality of Experience
The archaeological site was an eye-opener. The distillery was quite enjoyable, but we would recommend getting something to eat while tasting. It makes the experience complete. Be brave and try the fried grasshoppers --- like eating popcorn. Hard to stop munching!
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Alex was an incredible guide. Loved that he provided so much background regarding the historical figures who made an impact on the people and the country. He pointed out so many things that it whetted our appetite to learn more about the history of Mexico.

Loved walking around the neighborhoods, seeing the colorful murals, street decorations. It was fascinating to walk through the historic district and seeing the architectural details on the buildings. Glad that these re preserved for future generations to enjoy. Loved visiting the churches, one of which was such an incredible thing of beauty inside and out, and trumps all others. It was breathtaingly beautiful. Also enjoyed tasting street foods. We also liked that we stoppef to eat ice cream in such a colorful place in the plaza. What a special treat! However, after having gone to the markets in Mexico City and Cholula, we could have skipped going to another in Oaxaca :)

Quality of Experience
We saw so much. The variety of experience, the diversity in everything we saw, did, tasted.

From our initial conversations several months ago to our return to the U.S. from Colombia a few days ago, Felipe and his team "escorted" us through their beautiful country, always in touch with us to make sure our experiences were memorable. We enjoyed all of our knowledgable and engaging guides, especially Tomás Vargas in Bogotá and Juan Carlos Vandergast in Medellin, both with whom we spent considerable time. We also enjoyed Isaac in Cartagena, with his enthusiasm and command of his city's history, though we only spent a morning with him, because of some confusion on our end.

What an unfair question when asked about favorite experiences! Through KimKim, Aracanto provided us with a myriad of exciting opportunities. How about Monserrate, Candelaria, Villa de Leyva, Kronosaurus, Raquira, Medellin's Commune 13, Fernando Botero, Guatapé, El Piñol, Rosario Islands, walled old city Cartagena, Gethsemane, the cooking class with Gilles Dupont? They all tumble around inside our heads as memorable events of the trip. And I can't forget the friendliness of the welcoming Colombian people we met everywhere.

Two thumbs up to everyone involved and hands down for an incredible twelve days discovering another favorite country.

Thank you, KimKim.

What a day of exciting discovery. Everything was eye-opening. Juan Carlos was absolutely one of the best guides we've experienced. Guatapé's journey to becoming an artistic jewel, the sad story about the flooding of the original town of Piñol to make the lake for producing hydroelectric power, the boat ride and Juan Carlos' clever reveal of Pablo Escobar's dilapidated mansion amidst the stunning hillside houses. No, we didn't climb El Piñol, though I really wanted to. I was sure I could climb to the top, but I was concerned that my left knee would not have allowed me to descend!

Well, if nothing, it was exciting. Full boat of 40 people with luggage. Not balanced well, so this of us on the starboard side literally got soaked through all our clothing. Kind of funny, and uncomfortable. They rearranged luggage and then it was okay. But the adventure was not over. Apparently high winds made the Caribbean approach to Cartagena too dangerous, so our boat, along with several others, entered a very shallow river delta where our propellers were hitting mud. Other boats sped passed us, causing our boat to rock violently. Finally the boatman and first mate raised the engine (?) and we were on our way. Two your ride. It was an unanticipated adventure.

We let Alvaro know a few different things that we knew we wanted to do, and solicited his help and feedback to fill in around those. We went back and forth many times on the itinerary until it felt perfect, and then we were off! There are lots of transfers and moving parts when visiting the islands, and everything was handled seamlessly. Our local guides were fantastic, and the experiences were unparalleled. We saw so much wildlife, got to experience the islands from land and sea, and feel like we left having gotten the absolute most out of our trip. We also really enjoyed the accommodations Alvaro helped us pick.

I did book this trip online with KIMKIM for 13 nights starting from Bogata. Bogata (2N), Villa De Levya(1N), Cali(3N), Medellin(2N), Cartagena(3N) and Santa Marta (2N).
Margarita Moreno from "The Colombian Trip " planned the trip for me and she was my contact for any issues during the trip as well. It was an amazing 13 nights in Colombia and the guides were awesome.
Margarita was awesome, very helpful and she always cheked with us to make sure that everything was ok with our trip. We felt that cities in Colombia are much safer than lot of cities around the world. We really impressed with the public bath rooms in majority of the places and Clean restaurants everywhere.
I learned a lot about Colombia from all the guides and also had some very unique experiences with the activities during the trip.
Brujita ride and Tube floating in San Cipriano, El Penon de Guatape climb on a day trip from Medellin, boatride from Cartagena to Isabela in Rosario Islands, Fruit tastings in Bogota and Cali, visiting Salt Cathedral in Bogota, visiting historic Camuna 13 in medellin, hiking in the Tayrona Nationa park are some of the highlights.
Kudos to all the guides (Nataly, Claudia, Sol, Juan, Isaac and David) for their patience and help during the Activities and helping us at the airport during checkins.
I would highly recommend "The Columbian Trip" and Margarita for help with your future Colombian travel plans.

Dear Karen,
Thanks for taking the time to share your comments about the trip. It was lovely to meet you in Siem Reap and also receive a lot more feedback. Fantastic to see you had a great time.
BTW noted the comment about the hotel in Koh Trong. I think I found the way to add a note to warn future guests that there is no a/c, but that it is also not required. It should be seen in the hotel description now. Soriyabori is lovely, and far better than anything across the river in the town itself....

Soriyabori is lovely, and far better than anything across the river in the town itself.
Thanks for travelling with Travel Asia a la carte and kimkim. As mentioned, when you plan you next time please contact Kimkim. Almost certainly they will have an expert for that destination. And for Cambodia please tell them to contact me via kimkim also.
Best regards from sunny Siem Reap,
Steve.

We wanted an 'only in Costa Rica' trip and had specific requests that were all accommodated Sergio and the team he worked with. The process was time-edficient and price was reasonable compared to self-organized alternatives. We are sold on the concept and will come back to KimKim.

More specific feedback that you may find useful:

1. Transportation: I highly recommend taking drivers and car service for the long trips. Carrs were spacious and clean. Drivers were good and drove safely (very important). We only had to ask to slow down once. At the same time, the drivers drive a lot and were often tired while driving. One of them told me he would be driving 12 hrs in that day! Too much and illegal in many countries. The driver-guide Miguel from Arenal was exceptionally GREAT.

La Paz waterfall and cacao plantation: Both are must-visit sites in CR, and we had great guides. We asked for the quick versions of the visit and didn't feel we missed anything. This option for a shortened quickened should be offered.

Rafting: Guides were professionals and the boating was great. BUT, it's a 5.5 hrs slot for 2 hrs of rafting on the river. 3 hrs wasted on travel, pickups and going to a standard lunch that could be served on site. We missed the next activity. That was bitter-sweet. Would not recommend that format.

Springs Hotel: This is a great hotel with awesome activities. It's expensive but we'd love to come back.

Hanging bridges tour: A must-visit BUT we were teamed with a French couple, who didn't speak English well. The poor guide had to say everything twice in English and French, with her broken French. The guiding and tour became very tiring and slow particularly in the rain. Kids lost interest. Not a great experience although a must visit.

Zip lining: A must do! It was great and the kids daidit was a highlight. A very professional experience and a lot of fun.

Drive from Arenal to Monteverde: Its a scenic drive and we should have given it more time. The driver Miguel to was also a guide, and was Superb!

Monteverde hotel: The hotel is definitely not a 4 stars hotel in terms of room and service. Toilet was clogged. Security guard didn't speak English, couldn't help and had no one to call.

Monteverde tour with guide Andres: THE BEST! A tremendous visit. Andres is a star. We'll send people his way.

San jose tours were both great in terms of content, time mngt, etc. and the guides were great. I highly recommend spending a day in the city in the different national museums, BUT my highlight was a walking tour seeing the gorgeous architecture of the city. Our guides which Sergio provided were great and it was unexpectedly nice to meet and talk ro three different young Costa Rican guides.

Restaurants in SJ: Prices are reasonable and local food is delicious.

Overall we had a great experience and would definitely recommend kimkim and Sergio.

Thank you for everything.

Booking was simple and efficient. I especially liked the kimkim web interface, trip summary, messaging and notifications - made it so easy! Bryan was very responsive. We liked the survey that helped inform our specialists of our interests and lifestyle - they were spot on in their suggestions. We really liked the option to self-drive ... It gave us flexibility when transferring between locations and more freedom to explore. It would be a nice option to be able to add on a rental car with preferred and price negotiated partners. Also, when self driving, it would be nice to have some site or food suggestions between locations. Lodging choices were great with exception of location in Manuel Antonio - conveniently located right next to park for easy access, friendly staff, good accommodations, but not really our preference of quiet, serene boutique hotel and not really an ocean view. All selected tour guides were very good, experienced and professional. Only other suggestion for tours is some recommendation on what to expect and what to bring (or leave behind). I would like to see a breakdown on costs that would help inform where we would want to spend more or less money. We would definitely use again and we have already recommended to some friends ... is there a referral program ;-) ?

Arenal Manoa & Hot Springs
Fortuna

We'd rate this more like 4.5 stars. Location was amazing! - nestled among the native vegetation made us feel like we were in the jungle. We saw many local animals (birds and lizards) from our back patio which looked directly at Arenal Volcano. This property was a little more spread out which required a little more walking (not a problem for us) but also contributed to a feeling of being more remote. The restaurant, spa and pool area were all a short walking distance from our room. Breakfast was included. One restaurant on-site: great morning breakfast buffet with quite a variety and dinner selections let us explore local flavors. We both had a massage - nice outdoor setting and very relaxing. Rooms were nicely decorated, air conditioning was great, back patio with large sliding glass door was excellent. Reception area quite far from our room prevented us from spending much time there and developing any relationships with staff. Rooms are small duplex style - limited insulation between rooms made it easy to hear neighbors next door.

Authenticity & Character
Quiet and secluded, natural vegetation, wildlife, privacy, amazing view of Arenal Volcano (when clouds clear)
Location
Centrally located for quick drive to La Fortuna, hot springs and Hanging Bridges, Lake Arenal
Staff
Kind and helpful
Cleanliness & Comfort
Very nice accommodations, traditional modern styling, clean. Not well sound insulated from adjoining room.
Koora Hotel at Monteverde
Monteverde

Amazing location, staff and accommodations! Nestled up in the mountains with incredible views of the Nicoya peninsula and Pacific ocean, this was our favorite for our emtire trip. Nestled in the cloudforest between Monteverde and Santa Elena, the climate was cooler than we expected in Costa Rica - but we loved it! Small mountain villages with plenty of site seeing opportunities - coffee & chocolate tour, cloudforest, nature preserves. Allowed us to experience the variety of ecosystems that Costa Rica has to offer. While here we saw beautiful Resplendant Quetzal and Motmot birds. We also saw a variety of insects and a couple vipers on night tour. Staff was fantastic, food was delicious, views were beautiful, bungalows were private and secluded. Don't miss this one - we highly recommend!

Authenticity & Character
Costa Rican hospitality meets natural modern accommodations in small mountain village area. Bungalow style accommdations were like being in a tree house - unique!
Location
Top of the cloudforest views, small towns with shopping and restaurants close by, abundant tour choices.
Staff
The staff were the most kind and helpful people of our entire trip. Every time we entered the main building with reception, restaurant and bar, they greeted us and remembered our names. They anticipated my wife's dairy free diet. Thank you to Diana, Kenneth, Javier and Christian - you made our stay most enjoyable!
Cleanliness & Comfort
Natural setting, modern interior, nice styling, well maintained, very clean.
Hotel San Bada Resort & Spa
Manuel Antonio

Conveniently located right next to Manuel Antonio National Park entrance for easy access. Nice kind staff. The hotel itself seemed a little more dated and not as well maintained as other properties we visited. The rooms were more traditional than modern. Nice pool area with snack/drink bar. Property is not on the beach but there are marginal views of ocean from 5th and 6th floors. Beware of rooms on 5th floor - raccoons (or Coati) fighting in attic at 3:00-4:00 am for all three nights of our stay. Issues with hot water availability. Not really our preference of smaller, quiet, serene boutique hotel.

Authenticity & Character
Spanish flair styling, thatched roof Congo restaurant, rooftop sushi restaurant. Nice balcony at back of bedroom facing distant ocean views.
Location
If we are staying at the beach, we want to be on the beach. If access to Manuel Antonio National Park is your priority, stay here.
Staff
Housekeeping did a great job cleaning our room and creating "towel animals" in our bedroom - fun! Front desk was very helpful. Especially, Kenneth ... always kind, greeting us every day and at my request, was able to arrange for bouquet of flowers for my wife on Valentine's Day. Ema or Eva at pool provided great service - try the Congo Temptation. Rooftop restaurant staff needs some training on hospitality.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Room was clean and comfortable. Room was well stocked. Good air conditioning. Biggest problem was the raccoons (or Coati) fighting in the attic every morning between 3:00-4:00 am. We reported it to the front desk, they acknowledged the problem and reported it to maintenance.
Capitán Suizo Beachfront Boutique Hotel
Tamarindo

Secluded private resort at the far end of town provided for a nice mix of quiet with everything Tamarindo has to offer - tours, restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Open air reception area overlooking beautifully landscaped property. Rooms nestled among the native vegetation provides for a feeling of authenticity and remoteness. Pool, restaurant, bar and beach are just beyond rooms. Beautiful setting - you can lounge near pool, under trees overlooking ocean or out on sandy beach. Rooms are well kept, nicely decorated and well stocked. Looking for a boutique hotel with the right balance of seclusion and tourism, look no further.

Authenticity & Character
Natural setting in native vegetation, quality accommodations
Location
Natural setting on the far end of town directly on the beach, restaurant with beach views
Staff
Everybody at reception was so helpful! Moises went above and beyond to help us - we accidentally left backpack at restaurant in distant town. He called and made arrangements for us to pick next day and sent us with packed breakfast. Staff was fantastic in reception, gift shop, bar, restaurant and breakfast buffet.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Clean and comfortable rooms, programable air conditioning, nice beds and furniture
Bahia del Sol Hotel
Guanacaste

Great beach location on quiet Potrero Bay. Rooms nestled into thick vegetation making it feel more private and secluded. Natural modern stying of rooms and close proximity to beach, pool and restaurants. Breakfast included. 2 restaurants on-site: one traditional and one tapas bar. Other restaurant choices walking distance nearby. Kind helpful staff. Our room had issue with availability of hot water.

Authenticity & Character
Thatched hut styling, beach vibe, outdoor seating
Location
Beachside, landscaping, on-site parking, walking distance to other restaurants and shopping
Staff
Helpful with room service, luggage, directions, restaurant options
Cleanliness & Comfort
Clean rooms, clean restaurants, programable air conditioning

A fantastic way to learn more about Costa Rican life outside the tourist towns. Fifst we stopped by the Mercado in Quepos to see where everyone shops. It was just my wife and I - we had a great time learning to make plantain ceviche (delicioso!), rice, chicken and handmade corn tortillas! What a great meal to share with great new friends!

First introduction to all the ecosystems within Costa Rica - from dwarf forest mountaintops to dry lowlands. Our guide, Andreas, described in great detail all the ecosystems and what to expect. We chose to spend our time in the Rain shadow forest with greatest chance to see Resplendent Quetzal - we were not disappointed! We saw five differnet Quetzal (female, juvenile and male) - spectacular! We also saw the Motmot - beautiful! We also saw several other birds, including a variety of hummingbirds and one special Coati sunbathing on a log. An amazing experience!

Quality of Experience
Andreas asked us what we wanted to see. Our goal was to see the Quetzal and he put us in the right spot! Amazing spotting scope and took photos for us through the scope.

An amazing ecosystem with a large variety of plants & animals and several amazing beaches. Unfortunately, too many people made it feel like groups competing with each other to view and experience the park. Still, it was amazing what we did see: dragon flies, lizards, iguana, sloths (2 & 3 toed), many birds and monkeys (white face Capuchin and Howlers).

Quality of Experience
Great bio diverstity
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our guide, Socio, was very knowledgeable and well connected. You learn that these guides work together to share information to ensure the customer experience is spectacular. There were only four of us in the group, so it felt like a private tour. One guy didn't follow guides' instructions and he went a bit overboard on reprimanding the guest publicly - embarrassing. Lastly, he could have managed our expectations about what the tour would consist of and where we were going - we got to the beach and he started saying goodbye. Felt like an abrupt end or he had another tour to lead - awkward.
Transport
We met at entrance to park. Our hotel was adjacent to entrance, so it was a short walk.

Along the way we saw and discussed several types of birds. Calm bays and beaches to launch and land so not big waves - A great time out on the water! Driver spotted some Scarlet Macaw's near seawall in Quepos, so he pulled over to let us see - very accommodating.

Quality of Experience
A great time on the water, we saw many fish and birds. Good exercise, but not too strenuous.
Food

Hola Joseph,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I'm thrilled to hear that your booking experience was simple and efficient, and that the kimkim web interface, trip summary, messaging, and notifications were helpful. We always strive to make the booking process as seamless as possible for our customers.

I'm glad that the self-drive option gave you the flexibility and freedom to explore during your trip. Your suggestion to add the option to add a rental car with preferred and price negotiated partners, and to provide site or food suggestions between locations when self-driving is noted and appreciated.

We also appreciate your feedback on the location of the lodging in Manuel Antonio, and we will keep that in mind for future bookings. I'm happy to hear that all of our selected tour guides were good, experienced, and professional, and I understand that providing recommendations on what to expect and what to bring for tours would be helpful.

To answer your question about a cost breakdown. That is not something we can offer, since it is against Kimkim's and the hotels'/operators' policies to relieve the special rates that we obtain. Thank you for using our service and recommending it to your friends. Please feel free to recommend me to them (I can give you a better price for your next visit to Costa Rica :) ). I'll be happy to assist them in making their travel plans.

Steve managed to organize a short family trip for us down to Cambodia that was a trip of a lifetime. He was able to answer questions from each family member, at all times of the day, helping us prepare for the trip (from currency, to clothing, to flight recommendations). While we were there, he always made sure we were well taken care of, checking in on us and even went above to help with delayed baggage.
Regarding the trip itself, he managed to find a way for us to learn about the Cambodian history (the Khmer Rouge & S21 were very humbling to learn about), experience and understand the Cambodian culture today (the cyclo tour was such a fun experience), and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the Angkorian temples.
I appreciated that most of what we did, involved supporting the locals. Be it via Jaan Bai (delicious food), the Phare Ponleu Selpak (those kids had SO MUCH POSITIVE ENERGY), or even Tonle Sap (seeing the entire community drying the fish was really fascinating).
Sarrun as our guide was also amazing. Cambodia has very little English speaking, and he was able to help teach us the basics of Khmer language, help us on the day trips (reserving a spot for us to see the bats, buy us the local hacky sacks that we loved seeing people play with, communicate with the driver(s), etc). He also was great at helping us understand how much to expect for a TukTuk ride for our free nights, and how safe it would be during the night.
One thing to mention, if you do not know humidity, be prepared for lots of humid days, and pack accordingly!

Going at sunset instead of midday was the best decision made (in terms of weather and the scenery). The sunset was beautiful, and I think it would be even more beautiful during wet season, with the rice paddies being more green. However, the only time I felt bombarded / guilted on this entire trip was at the shops at the end of the ride. You go for about 10min, then you get off and there are a couple little shops. The kids all know how to say they're hungry and are poor, though none look malnourished. The parents also try to push that on you. And the only way for you to leave is back on the train, but the train driver is related to the shop owners, so they are in no rush. This probably would be the first thing I would remove if I were to re-do this trip.

This is one of the areas, that highlights how helpful a guide is. Sarrun helped us get a truck transportation up the hill. Even though we are a fit family, even we would not be able to walk the mountain in the heat. Also, having a spot saved for us at the bottom to see the bats leave was perfect. This was the first spot we saw the monkeys in Cambodia, and it was a humbling experience understanding the history of what became of the cave during the Khmer Rouge.

Definitely top 3 items on the trip to Cambodia. The performers had SO MUCH ENERGY throughout. Even if they did a little mess up, they wanted to do it again and everyone (including other cast members) would always cheer them on. It is only an hour, but it was really such a positive experience. Some of the tricks they do is at a level that international buskers strive to complete, so it was really cool to see.

It was cool to go to the market, get some of the ingredients, then actually cook those ingredients. The food was delicious, and it was really cool to actually learn to cook the Cambodian way (from cleaning the bananna leaves for the fish amok to mortar & pestle the spices to using the clay pot stove we saw in Ondong Roussey). It was such an amazing experience, and great to then taste our feast at the end. To top it all off, we were allowed to walk the gardens and they were so accomodating. We even asked what a specific fruit was (milk fruit), and they pulled one down for us to try, just because! Such a beautiful and fun experience.

Ta Phrom (afternoon by remork)
Ta Phrom (afternoon by remork)
Siem Reap

The remork was a great way to get around and get some fresh air. Ta Phrom is a great temple. It was not too busy, and allowed us to take some great photos, but do prepare for some crowds at some of the main photo spots.

This was chaotically, hilariously, fun! It was a fun time, and they definitely are pushing the beers on you. But it was fun.

Seeing the fish drying / smoking was really cool. It's a nice and pleasant drive / boat ride out. It also is a nice change of pace.

Sunrise (and return to hotel for breakfast)
Siem Reap

I think out of all the temples, this was actually our least favourite. Be prepared for crowds during the sunrise. It is beautiful, but everyone talking and walking around (luckily not in front of the water / temple) takes away from the experience. Walking around Angkor Wat afterwards was still beautiful, but I enjoyed Angkor Thom, Ta Phrom, Banteay Kdei, and Pre Rup more.

Additional airport transfer
Siem Reap

The airport is closer to the hotel than you think. But great to have this additional transfer

Hi Shayla,
Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed comments. It's really helpful.
A couple of points:
Angkor Wat - I was there a few days ago for sunrise. Perhaps 500-800 people total. However, it was relatively quiet and I felt still manageable. However, we are expecting Asian tour groups, especially Chinese, to return before too long. So its going to get a lot busier, and we will probably stop offering sunrise at Angkor Wat to guests, as we did pre-Covid when things were just too...

Bamboo train - I haven't visited for a year or more now. Sorry, to hear the families there are being a bit persistent in trying to sell t-shirts etc. They are not rich, but also not poor, and make money from growing crops in the fields. We will ask our guides to be a bit more insistent on them not going over the top with their selling. The ride is still beautiful, and yes, early morning/late afternoon is best as there is no shelter from the sun whilst on the bamboo train.

I'm glad you had a little 'up to you' time to see other temples such as Banyeau Kdei. There are so many more you could explore but others may just get 'templed out'. My personal favourite is Preah Khan, which is a quieter version of Ta Phrom.

Thanks again for travelling with us, and also for all the feedback when I will reread again.
Best regards,
Steve.
